An Evening with Internationally Acclaimed Soprano Dr. Nafset Chenib Join us at European Market & Café for a truly unforgettable evening of music with Dr. Nafset Chenib, an internationally acclaimed operatic soprano whose career has taken her to some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls across Europe, the United States, Israel, and Russia.
Born blind in a small town in the Republic of Adygea, Dr. Chenib was recognized as a musical prodigy from an early age. As a member of the UNESCO Children’s Choir, she performed alongside the legendary Montserrat Caballé and sang for Pope John Paul II at the Vatican.
Throughout her remarkable career, she has appeared with renowned orchestras including the Moscow Virtuosi, the Evgeny Svetlanov State Academic Symphony Orchestra of Russia, the Baden-Baden Philharmonic, the International Tavrichesky Symphony Orchestra, and the St. Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra. She also shared the stage with José Carreras during the Closing Ceremony of the XI Winter Paralympic Games in 2014.
Her repertoire spans opera, vocal chamber music, musical theater, and film music. She has performed at world-famous venues such as Tonhalle Zurich, the Tchaikovsky Concert Hall of the Moscow Philharmonic, the Great Hall of the Moscow Conservatory, Teatro Massimo di Cagliari (Italy), and the Greenfield and Mikowsky Recital Halls at the Manhattan School of Music in New York City.
A laureate of numerous international competitions, Dr. Chenib received Second Prize at the VI Georgy Sviridov International Vocal Chamber Music Competition and the prestigious Pablo Casals Award from the Manhattan School of Music. She studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, the Manhattan School of Music, and the V. S. Popov Academy of Choral Arts in Moscow, and holds a Ph.D. in Musicology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York.
